On the 27th August, our gorgeous little boy turned 2. It was Kyan’s first Australian birthday so we had a few celebrations for him and he was spoilt rotten.
We went to Sydney for the weekend before his birthday (kids fly free before they are two!) to celebrate with our Aussie family. We had more than one reason to celebrate. My brother and sister-in-law welcomed their first child to the world on the 14th August – Macy Fox, the same sister-in-law had her 30th a few days before we arrived, and it was my dad’s birthday the weekend we were there. August has become very expensive!
Kyan is good when flying, but we are glad that he has to have his own seat next time! It’s become a bit squashy with the three of us sharing 2 seats. As soon as we get to my parent’s house, the first thing Kyan says is ‘Ubba’ (their dog is called Bubba). He is comfortable there now and is happy to have cuddles from everyone.
We spent the weekend at mum and dad’s and Kyan got loads of birthday presents, including some new Wiggles DVD’s (one of which is on right now!). Mum bought Kyan a Wiggles ice-cream cake which everyone loved! We also went to visit our new baby niece and Kyan’s first Aussie cousin. He kept signing cousin when he saw her so that was pretty cute.
Kyan’s actual birthday was on a Tuesday. We gave him his presents in the morning, which included a push bike thing from us and presents from his grandparents and English family and friends. We had cake and nibbles at our house in the evening with our adopted Queensland family. They all spoilt Kyan and he ended up with more presents! Lauren made him a fantastic Wiggles cake too.
Our main present to Kyan is to take him to Australia Zoo (Steve Irwin’s zoo) which we are doing next week. Kyan is obsessed with animals so we think he will love it. It’s about 2 hours north of where we live so we have decided to go camping for a few days up there as well. We are all looking forward to that!
