Just some random facts

November 9, 2011 By Claire David and Ella

I know people say when you are due to have a baby you nest but I am having the urge to talk to you all about Ella. So here goes.

Since just after Ellas 2nd birthday she has been donkey riding at the local EST — I would strongly advise anyone who has a centre near them to check it out. Ella has a ball every month she is there. It is giving her so much confidence around the animals and they teach things like colours and basic makaton signs.

There is also so much to do in terms of activities. Our centre has a dressing up area, shop, sensory toys, outdoor play area and sensory room. I still have no idea how to add photos but have some great photos of Ella on the donkeys and in the sensory room.

I have put together some of the action songs on the ipod. Just last week I started singing the Grand Old Duke of York — if any of you have heard my singing voice it perhaps has a little room for improvment, Ella clearly thought a lot of room, she walked to the fireplace, loooked up and pointed at the radio. We were both laughing at this then realised she was pointing at what she wanted. This is another tick on the OT list.

With her little brother or sister due anytime now we still aren’t convinced she knows what is happening. She has noticed my ever expanding tummy and likes to poke my belly button at any opportunity but when I ask if there is a baby in there and do the baby sign she violently shakes her head and puts her fingers together the way we do Incy Wincy Spider. So there you have it — I’m having a spider. David is dreading the shoe bill when it starts walking.

Last Saturday I took my mum out for afternoon tea as her birthday present so David and Ella had a daddy daughter day. David loved it as did Ella. In the afternoon they went to the beach. Ella was all wrapped up and again some great photos. Unfortunately there was no bucket and spade but Ella enjoyed playing with the seaweed.

Seems to be wherever Ella goes she lets people know she is there with a friendly wave, a poor lady in Tesco got on the wrong side of Ella just last week — be warned wave back it only takes a second. Walking down the isle Ella waved the lady ignored her, met the same lady in another isle again Ella waved no response. Third time Ella just shouted aaarrrggghhh, the lady contuined to look at Ella but still didn’t wave. We bumped into the lady once more where again Ella just shouted at her. She was about to join the queue behind us but thought better of it and went to another check out. The lady had been looking at Ella everytime but choose to stare not respond. She won’t be doing that again in a hurry.
